Jonathan and Elizabeth’s father, who lived in the family house in Berkshire, has recently died. They now have the difficult and emotional task of dispersing the contents of their childhood home.
Neither of them lives close by, but Elizabeth has offered to take on the task of clearing the house. Jonathan thinks it is too much for Elizabeth by herself but can’t spare the time to help. He heard about Good Sorts from a colleague and recommends them to help. They meet Good Sorts at the house and brief them about the timescales they’d like to achieve. They take a few very special items with them but want to leave sorting and organising the rest to Good Sorts.
A supportive and practical end to an emotional journey.
Shortly after the meeting, Good Sorts sends a comprehensive plan with dates, sorting categories and costs. Access is arranged with the estate agent handling the house sale. All the contents are sorted in a single week-long ‘blitz’, so Jonathan and Elizabeth spend the following weekend going through everything and make decisions as they go. They are delighted that their father’s possessions, regardless of value, have been treated with great care.

Once the decisions have been made, Good Sorts provides an introduction to a specialist auctioneer to sell their father’s extensive library of military history. They pack and deliver a few items that are being given to friends and family and supervise the dispersal of the rest to Jonathan and Elizabeth, a local saleroom and a number of charities.
